I go to a very conservative, non-denominational church. When it comes to devoting your child to God we don't do baptisms, we do a baby dedication. Well, today our pastor pointed something out that I've never really thought about and realized... Not only should you dedicate your child to God from that first day, but you should dedicate them EVERY DAY!! When you dedicate your child before the church you are proclaiming out loud for everyone to hear. But it shouldn't stop there!! You should be dedicating them on a daily basis, even more so on the days that you are really wanting to "sacrifice" them to the lord (as my pastor put it)!!! Children are BEAUTIFUL people... put they don't just come into the world knowing what is right and what is wrong. We much teach them. We must raise them in Gods house. We must PRAY for them. We must love them. We must set examples for them. We must DEDICATE ourselves and our lives to do everything we can to help them hear God's voice, recognize God's involvement in their daily activities, and know that God is the ONLY way.
So, the next time your child is acting insane and you're ready to boot them out the door, remember that commitment you made to DEDICATE them to the one and only above.
